Anonymous Posts

Every week, we collect anonymous entries sent in using the link on our sidebar and post them all on Monday. We post anything as long as it doesn't contain personal attacks or hate speech. Feel free to submit your thoughts and questions :)

Summer break, y'all. By the dip in visitors I'm going to assume that 95% of You Guys are in Myrtle right now, celebrating the end of the academic year with tempered and completely appropriate social functions. "I love it when the Dukies come down!" says Every Adult There, always.

Anyhow! For those of us that are lame/broke/staring at the HRC in a week (!) there are anonymous posts (which will be posted all Summer as we get them. So hit us up!).

I just posted in the women loving women area of Craigslist tonight. I never thought I'd do something like this. Maybe it's my own fault for not putting myself out there enough. I never pictured myself writing a sketchy personal ad in the casual encounters area of a relationships section for an online buying/selling site. But then again, how desperate am I?

I look forward to these anonymous entries every Monday morning. I have learned so much from the contributors here, and I hope that throughout the summer you'll keep this blog running!

  1. #1,

I don't think it's as uncommon and desperate as you make it seem. I was looking in the women for women section of casual encounters on craigslist like two days ago! The only difference is that I hadn't made up my mind yet about if I wanted to take the step and reply to any...maybe I will now...

  2. #1 - I definitely don't think it's desperate to post on Craig's List. I would make sure to be careful and safe, but overall, I can completely understand why as a gay woman at Duke you would feel isolated or find added difficulty in getting a relationship with someone else who is a gay woman at Duke. the only advice I can give you, is that you're probably a good person, and that eventually that will pan out to your favor. My guess is that somebody will take notice-or already has taken notice-of what a catch you are. There is a saying I read in a self-help book once, it was, “just wait 5 more minutes for that miracle”. I don’t think that waiting longer to meet someone was what you wanted to here from an anonymous poster, but my guess is that the right person is just around the corner for you. Just hang in there long enough for them to find you, or vice versa.
